I was an advisor for Cavalcade Crew 812-CW-S in 2001 and believe we checked
out on the last day. Our check out was a little different as we had to
check out at Cattle HQ first, then do the normal check out at Camping HQ
but we did have to go through all the wickets. Having the paperwork ready
will speed your checkout, like having your wildlife tally sheet done,
receipt for valuables, etc. We used our own equipment except for tents
which also speeded up our checkout. From what I observed of the Philmont
cookware I would always take my own.
I had VERY little success getting good first hand information on Cavalcade.
If anyone gets selected for a Cavalcade and would like to discuss it you
can e-mail me.
My son bought an HP digi camera the day before we left for Philmont and
took great pics. I've used a video projector to show these images several
time (6' screen) with great results, very good. I'm setting up a web site
where the pics can be viewed. When I get it set up I will post the address.
After all a picture is worth a 1000 opinions. He had no trouble with
moisture or color but his battery did give out during the trip.
Please forgive this but I'm looking for plans to make cross country skis
out of rain gutter. If you know where I can find the plans or where I might
post to find them it would be appreciated. I've posted in a couple news
groups but came up dry.
