Here's some information about why Philmont is requiring an original medical
form -- NO COPIES!
While I cannot say what Philmont will do this summer if someone brings a
copy of the medical form and not the original, I do know that Philmont has
become increasingly concerned that doctors are not seeing the entire form
when doing a physical, thereby not being fully informed as to the potential
medical risks and physical requirements of a Philmont hike. If a doctor
signs the original form -- LEFT ENTIRELY INTACT -- it is assumed the doctor
had the opportunity to review all the information it contains (of course
he/she may not have read it, but that was their choice). If you need a form
I would contact Philmont for another one and not take a chance with a copy.
When our council contingent gets on the plane this summer each participant
will have an original medical form or they will be staying home. We have one
copy for each participant. NO EXTRAS!
