If you find yourself unable to make it to a camp or road, then you have to
enact emergency procedures. Your Ranger will teach you how to do this.
This involves going to the nearest staff camp to use the radio.

Health Lodge will determine how bad the injury is from there. It may only
require the camp to go out with one of their portable radios to the secene
to gather more info, administer care, or transport the subject to the
camp.

If HL decides they need to be on scene then they will assemble a strike
team which includes a medic, medic driver, and a veteran ranger. These
three will make their way to the subject from the closest acces point and
asses from there if more resources are needed to get the subject to better
care. Normally they can get the subject to their vehicle. Once the
subject has reached the vehicle HL will asses again if he/she needs to go
down. If the subject needs to go down then that vehicle will take them
down then. There will already be 2 deep leadership so no advisors will be
needed unless an advisor thinks he/she needs to go down.

The subject will go to Base Camp unless it is very urgent then they will
be taken to a hospital. If it is determined that the subject can return
to the trail safely and there will be a place for he/she to rejoin the
crew then all efforts will be made to arrange that. If someone goes down
to Base, it must be understood that there is no gaurantee they will make
it back on the trail. Philmont may decide that they will have to go home
early if it is early in the trek. If it is say day 9, then they may allow
the injured camper to stay in base for the rest of the crew to come down.

Does this answer your questions?
