If popups annoy you, get a blocker such as Pow! from http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/pow.htm and there are many other programs out there. I've been using Pow for quite a while. See an popup, hit the Systray icon, and add the offending window name to a blacklist. You barely see a flicker the next time a same named window pops up and is closed.
A program like this is especially nice if you are on a dialup and you need all the bandwidth you can get.
