I am not sure how you do this, but he needs to get with his doctor and learn
the facts of life. As a type II diabetic, non insulin dependant, about the
same size as this gentleman, I went to PTC in August. I hoped to hike a
small trail with my son and wife during the week I was there. Phlmont staff
left no doubt that I should not go and that I would put myself at risk and
potentially cause great disruption. I took their advice.
I didn't like it but those are the facts of life. Usually it takes time to
get severely out of shape and time to get back into shape. I hope that when
my son has an opportunity to do a trek, I will be in shape to consider going
with him. If I am not, then I will do my best to realize that and greet him
when he returns and not spoil his trip, or worse, by trying to do something
I would not be capable of if I wasn't in shape.
