Paul,
I've read several replies to your post and agree along with them that this
gentleman is a serious physical risk candidate right now.
Another red flag waving in my face about this man that I haven't seen
addressed is his lack of participation in crew activities to this point. As
far as I'm concerned, he could be ready to run a marathon with a 50 lb pack
at 10,000 feet, but if he won't do what it takes to participate in the crew
activities ahead of a trek, he is a liability to the crew because he will
also not be emotionally and mentally prepared for crew dynamics. Crews don't
need adults who have not been part of the preparation process.
