Not disagreeing at all with everything you've said, but this will
be pretty tough for folks in much of the country since the highest
point east of the Mississippi is Mt. Mitchell in North Carolina
at 6684 feet! :)
Here in New York State we have our "High Peaks" in the Adirondacks
too; that's any summit over 4000' ....
