You're right, it would be hard, but if there's anyway to get even one
night at a higher elevation, it would be worth it. Very few people
get true altitude sickness, as Calvin pointed out, but those that do
are really miserable. It's best to know before you're there!
Besides, the Sierras are absolutely stunning! Any place you can
backpack, you should!
