If the parent (male or female) remembers that their role is to let the
crew leader lead, then there is no problem. If they can't accept that
role, then..........
I've been on two Philtreks where the crew chief's father was a member of
the crew and never saw a problem. I've seen it not work that well in
another crew.

It's more a matter of personality, intelligence, maturity and common
sense than it is parent/son relationships.
