Take it for long walks in the woods.
Let it soak up some sun, some fog, even some early
morn rain from time to time.
Provide it the occasional caress from a warm palm.
Expose it to the different elements, keeping you
company near the warmth of a campfire and as you slog
down a snowy path.
Make it smarter ... have it tag along with you for
training courses and roundtable.
Make it popular. Wear it often, not just at camp, so
it can meet lots of Scouts and Scouters and even
semi-interested parents.

The above seems to work for most of the belts I've
seen, and it seems to be working ok for the one I
bought and the custom one my spouse made for herself
at PTC a while back.

Neither of our belts have had any special oils or
storage tricks. Just lots of wear.
