Apparently Al's spreadsheet is rather popular. Troop 464's Philmont site
on GeoCities has exceeded its daily transmission quota.
A copy of Al Thomson's 110KB "Treks 2002" spreadsheet is also available at
http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~seb/philmont-treks2002.xls as well as in 220KB
PDF format at http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~seb/philmont-treks2002.pdf
Comment...
Thanks to both Earl and Selden for posting my work. The .pdf version has
some problems with inappropriate linebreaks and too much information for
some cells. I will try to make to see if I can help with that (Tom Wills
- can we look at this Thursday night?). I will note that for those not
"spreadsheet challenged", that by playing with formating (bold fonts,
etc.) and background shading or colors of cells, it is possible to
highlight information that is of particular interest to your crew. The
.pdf version does not allow that kind of customization.
Since last week, I have continued to tweak it, as well. In particular,
added a column that details food pickups (since Tom Wills told the PPC
crews that information was there, and it wasn't). I have also been able
to look at a copy of the Philmont Interactive Ranger CD (verseion with the
2001 treks)and am beginning to get a better handle on errors both in TREKS
2002 as well as the CD regarding daily mileage. I do not know how long it
will take me to work completely through that issue - but for planning
purposes, the data in the spreadsheet is adequate. My guess is, long
enough that it will have to wait for the 2003 version....
The "Notes" column attempts to clue you into some of the more glaring
discrepancies.
