I don't know about BeaverBob's Desitin, but as the parent of a 3-year-old, I can tell you that there are two varieties of Desitin out there; the 'pine-tar' of his recollection, and a lighter, more-creamy variety. The latter soaks in easier and--if used sparingly and first thing in the morning--prevents the undesireable ursine companionship he is concerned about.
