There is a Kit Carson Museum a couple of miles from Basecamp. There is
a shuttle bus that can be signed up for when you arrive at Basecamp, or
you can go on your own if you have personal transportation. It's a
worthwhile tour.
I have not heard this facility referred to as the Car-Max Museum. I
would guess that the Max in this case stands for Lucien Maxwell. Not
sure if they have added that to the name of the museum, or if it refers
to some other facility that I don't know about. Perhaps someone else
can shed light on this?
