[Philmont]: thron and roses - disappointing camps

Since I started the discussion on Sawmill, I feel like I need to
counterbalance the negative experience with something positive - just like
in thorn and roses.

We got up early at Sawmill, ate breakfast in front of the cabin, watching
the sun rise from the million dollar view. And then hoofed it down the hill
to Cimaroncito. We were supposed to hike hidden valley, but our crew from
flat Illinois wanted to climb on some rocks instead of the insides of grain
silos (like we do in Illinois).

We arrived at Cimaroncito before 8:00. We figured we would be the first to
request a slot for climbing. Our experience had been that we hiked to our
next camp and then did the program.

We found that Cimaroncito was a major major major waypoint in everyone's
itenery, very crowded and the staff was still trying to accomdate crews from
the day before. The first climb we could get was at 3:00 pm. Our crew
talked to the staff for awhile, and eventually the staff let us into the
climbing room, in the building north of the main cabin. Our crew climbed on
the walls and ceiling for over an hour. That was the start of a great day.

The staff at Cimaroncito may have been overworked last summer, but they
still found time to accomodate our crew.

Thanks
