I took a GPS in '01 (with great expectations and excitement) and found it to
be most inaccurate. The reasons were well explained on this list at that
time. Since I carry a walking stick (the 5 foot bamboo stick has proven to be
more useful to me than other choices), not treking poles, I don't know how to
tell you to spend your money!!! Maybe a good tent or light sleeping bag.
