I can give you ageneral comment -- since I work for the Army.

The security posture in the contry now makes access to military bases pretty limited for the general population. If your crew is made up mostly of ID card holders (military family members, active duty advisors, retired military) then you can at least get on a base. Camping opportunities on instalations vary widely. Most have some sort of car camping, RV park. They fill up. If yu want to consider staying oninstallations, and you have access, you had better do plenty of advance coordination.
