My wife attended PTC for Venturing training last year. I was stuck at home
with work and dog sitting, but she took my mother-in-law, who did the
"Senoras/Senores" Program (for adults). There is a lot of flexibility and
free time. Because my mother-in-law is (how can I say this tactfully?) up
in years, she passed on the more physically demanding options. She had a
great time and especially enjoyed the crafts, historical aspects (museums,
etc.) and visiting Taos.
My daughter and son also went and my son took along a friend. They all did
the Mountain Trek Program and loved it. The only complaint was from my
daughter who, because she was in the backcountry nearly the whole time,
didn't get a chance to track down a few friends that were on staff. If you
have children, be sure to take them along, too. Mine are all set to go
again this year.
