No, it was a "random" selection. The waiting list assignments were random
too. Both our troop and crew signed up for the selection process on the
same day. The troop was selected while the crew wound up #1140 on the
waiting list. The troop has had several past Philmont backpacking treks
while the crew has never had a backpacking trek.
