[Philmont]: 2004 Philmont Trek

I have a problem that I hope the members of this list can help with.

I am an advisor for one of Netseo Trails Council's 2004 Philmont Contingent
and we still have several open spots that need to be filled. The details
for the trek are below. If you know of any Scout, either male or female,
that would like to go to Philmont in 2004, I would greatly appreciate it if
they would contact me as soon as possible. We have at least three more
shakedowns scheduled, and will make all reasonable accommodations with
regard to pre-Philmont meetings and outings to facilitate maximum
attendance. My preference would be a youth from the North Texas/Southern
Oklahoma/Western Arkansas area, but would consider anyone willing to go.

Details:

Philmont 2004

Depart: July 12, 2004

Return: July 26, 2004

Cost: $200 deposit, and an additional $500 paid out per an agreed upon
schedule. (this may be reduced depending on the size of the crew and
detailed travel planning)

Available slots: 5 in my crew, and 4 in our sister crew.

Age requirements: 14 years old by January 1, 2004, or have completed eighth
grade and 14 years old by arrival at Philmont.

Trek: The trek will be chosen by the crew.

Training: We are offering three additional weekend backpacking trips to the
Ouachita Trail in western Arkansas to prepare for Philmont. All crew
members are encouraged to attend.

Adult Leadership: The advisors for my crew will be myself and Karen (an
assistant scoutmaster in my troop, as well as a registered nurse). The
other crew will be lead by a scoutmaster and assistant scoutmaster from
Troop 3990 out of Paris, TX.

Meetings: Currently we are meeting in Bonham, but if we get members from
other areas, we will schedule meetings for maximum participation.
