RE: [Philmont]: 2004 Philmont Trek

I did send a note to our council's email distribution, as well as
announcements at OA Fall Fellowship, OA Banquet, District Banquet,
Roundtables, Merit Badge University, and personally placed calls to unit
leaders that did not attend these activities.

Most of the scouts that want to go to Philmont are planning to make their
trip after Jamboree, which is historically our council's only large
contingent. For reference, last year we barely filled one crew, but in
2002, the year following Jamboree, we completely filled four crews.

This year, I am trying to broaden the experience to Scouts outside of our
council that may not otherwise be able to attend, instead of going with a
skeleton crew, leaving spots unused. I believe it will also add to the
enjoyment of everyone on the crew.

Anyways, thanks for the suggestion, believe me, I've tried everything I
could with poor results. :-(

David

Have you checked to see whether your Council maintains an email distribution
list? Ours does, and it's a perfect way to reach a lot of local scouts and
scouters fast.
