To quote the Philmont Staff Association website: "At the present time, our
only reliable shipping option from Cimarron, NM is the United States Postal
Service. While FedEx, Airborne, UPS, etc... do pick up and deliver to
Philmont, they only do so when they have a truck coming our way. As soon as
these services become more reliable, we will offer alternative shipping
options (don't hold your breath!)."
And from the PTC faculty guidebook: "Ship materials not ordered through
Supply Division via United Parcel or Federal Express, since they deliver to
Philmont-other carriers do not. Keep in mind that Cimarron is located in
one of the most rural areas of our nation and has a population of about 900.
If you plan to ship personal items or equipment, please do so well in
advance. Overnight delivery is not possible in rural New Mexico."
In other words, Cimarron may seem like the big city after 10 days in the
backcountry, but it's really not :-)

I'm not clear on your comment? If I FedEx, next day delivery, to
Philmont on Monday, my package will arrive on Tuesday. If I drop a letter
in the mail box on Monday, there's no way it gets there Tuesday.
I don't want to waste $15 but tell me how that works out the same.
Thanks,
Mike
