Another good alternative is the peanut butter M&M "frosting" for the backpacker cakes. It's been the 'birthday treat' for our crew for years. You cook the cake mix in the bakepacker, and slap on the M&Ms when you spoon it into bowls. They melt, giving it a nice rainbow color.
