I agree with an earlier post that you should purchase Philmont meals for
your prep hikes.

In 1999 I took extra power bars, rice and instant potatoes, too much sugar
carbs then.

The meals were MUCH better in 2003--- basically add boiling water and wait
-- and much better balanced for calories, protein,and carbs. Didn't need to
take the rice and instant potatoes or extra power bars. THANKS Philmont!!

FYI -- My guys would trade and barter for the extra gatorade. Suggestion
-- Use half the powder, makes drinks that will taste better than water, is
better for you to quench thirst, and will go further on the trail.
