When I went on my first trek, I was a maniac in terms of saving weight. I only wore my hiking boots, and had nothing to wear when we reached the campsite for that night. In addition to resulting in really smelly feet, having only the boots I hiked in for the night meant that my feet also stayed uncomfortable until I turned in to sleep. What is Phimont's policy on bringing sandals? I am a big sandal person because of the lighter weight, and find that I get all the support that I would from a pair of sneakers, and have even played tennis in them (the sandals). I also remember our ranger hiking around in them while he was with us (but probably won't attempt to recreate that)!
