Keen rubber toed sandels are great. I used to wear Teva but like the Keen better. They are closed toed, come in either a waterproof leather or a nylon strap version, are more comfortable and make a great camp shoe and we even used them to climb Half Dome in Yosemite last summer. They do weight a little more than Teva, if I recall correctly, but I like them better. I would take them to Philmont for my camp shoe next time.

Keen makes a sandal with a rubber bumper toe that protects the front of
your foot. I bought a pair last summer for canoeing and they offer as much
support as athletic shoes, are as comfortable as sandals but offer a lot
more protection. Not as much as boots, but much better than regular
sandals. Mine are leather with a neoprene lining, but they also have nylon
web material option. I don't know the weight difference, or how they
compare to Teva for weight. Maybe one day I'll take them off long enough to
weigh them!
