RE: [Philmont]: Philmont travel plans

I have made two trips from Charlotte. Both times flew to Denver. Once
direct, once with a St. Louis connection. I have never checked train
travel, but my guess is you would save little money and with the connections
necessary with Amtrak from NC it would take considerable time to get there.
We went to Denver as we were able to get cheaper flights than to
Albuquerque, but that may be different now. Either location has a lot of
things to do prior to getting to Philmont. The best ground transportation
once you get there is dependant on the size of your group. Both times we
had 3 crews so we rented a bus.

Subject: [Philmont]: Philmont travel plans

My first question, as our troop is going in 2006. This will be the first
time for all but the lead advisor who went as a scout in the 70's.
Is there any advise out there concerning travel to Philmont from the eastern
part of the country? We are coming from North Carolina. I'm sure we'll ask
for more advise as time progresses.
