RE: [Philmont]: what to wear around camp when not hiking

I carried a set of Keen sandals (closed toe) with me last summer. They are
not very light, but they were solid for in camp footwear. My feet
appreciated the opportunity to "air out" as did my boots.

Subject: [Philmont]: what to wear around camp when not hiking

When I went on my first trek, I was a maniac in terms of saving weight. I
only wore my hiking boots, and had nothing to wear when we reached the
campsite for that night. In addition to resulting in really smelly feet,
having only the boots I hiked in for the night meant that my feet also
stayed uncomfortable until I turned in to sleep. What is Phimont's policy
on bringing sandals? I am a big sandal person because of the lighter
weight, and find that I get all the support that I would from a pair of
sneakers, and have even played tennis in them (the sandals). I also
remember our ranger hiking around in them while he was with us (but probably
won't attempt to recreate that)!
