We were told to scatter the tents to not have the row, circle or organization
thing. We were told the Bear thing. I haven't even thought of the Deer jumping
over the tent thing.
Comment...
Surprised at the use of the word "scatter," as it certainly could be
mis-interpreted and lead to the biggest problem - a "lone tent" separated from
the others.
My crews generally have been told to "cluster" the tents in small groups of 2 or
3 (or 4) about 10-15 feet apart, but not to create "figures" (triangles,
squares, etc.) where a bear could find himself in the middle of the group.
