[Philmont]: Philmont Options

I have a non-Philmont (but Philmont related) question. I haven't monitored the list for over a year, so hopefully this hasn't already been covered at length.

Our crew did not get a Philmont spot for 2007. We were one of the 80 who mistakenly got a bid for Double H. We are considering the Double H, but also considering other options. One of our leaders brought up the program at Elkhorn High Adventure Base. I haven't found much about people's experiences for either on the internet. Our crew will be a little young with most of the boys in the not quite or just turned 14 to 15 range with a couple of 16 year olds. So they still have another chance or two at Philmont, including going as part of the Council contingent if we don't secure out own spot in 2008.

I would appreciate any input on either program, or others available in the central US. Feel free to reply off-line to not jamb the board with an off-Philmont discussion.

Thanks
Allen Jones
