Since you seem to be in the Dallas area, let me suggest the Cedar Ridge Preserve (formerly the Dallas Nature Center). Our crew trained there last year ( we did an 05 trek), hiking the trail with about 40 pounds in our packs Some of the adults did this almost every Saturday, the ups and downs are helpful in building endurance.

Thanks for the vote for training, I am working with a Troop that will be at Philmont in June.
We walked two miles today on our track at our High School & walked up the bleachers once. We plan a 5 mile hike along White Rock Lake (Dallas Texas)
Do you have any sugggestions for aerobics I am an old Yoga lady & we always disagreed.
