Alone time is a great time to sit and write in your journal. Most scouts and adults will come away from Philmont with wonderful memories and photos. Very few will take the time to record their thoughts in a written journal. On my first trek as an adult in 1986, I kept a journal that I typed up and gave to each member of the crew after we had gotten back home. I know that from time to time, I still pull it out and remember the trials and joys of being an advisor for a great crew.
