  By the way, consider a short trek after the regular trek season. I
believe the last regular trek starts Aug. 9, so starting Aug. 10, you can
have treks shorter than the standard 12 days, so long as they end by the day
the Aug. 9 full trek ends. We started Aug 8 last year, and met a lot of
short trek crews on the trail, they said they
  reserved their short treks only a few weeks before they went. I suspect
short treks are readily available. You still earn an arrowhead for it, you
still do a cons project, and you still get the staffed camps, but you don't
follow a pre-set itinerary, you can adjust it when you start (not after you
start, mind, they do need to know where you are).

  If your school schedule allows it, you might consider that.

letter was addressed to me and didn't refer to either the troop or the crew.
Should I expect another letter or do we just get one shot on the waiting
list as opposed to two in the lottery?
