The equipment issued by Philmont, and as listed in the Guidebook to Adventure varies by crew, depending upon their preferences, the gear they provide for themselves, and input from their Ranger. The bear ropes are approximately 100 feet in length. Camping Services will issue as many as you want.

The 2006 Guidebook to adventure says that Philmont furnishes 150-foot length of 1/4 inch nylon rope that weighs about 2 1/2 pounds.

I remember getting 3 separate bear bag ropes in 2004. They were 80 or 100 feet long with a loop knot in the middle.

What is the collective memory on
a. Number of bear bag ropes issued
b. Length of each rope
c. Etc.
