[philmont] Bear Ropes

In '01 we went into the Valle where there are no bear cables and
 were issued 3 bear ropes. We were told to put one rope in one
 tree, another rope in a second tree, tie the ropes together and
 pull tight to make our own bear cable. Then throw the third rope
 over. I do not know if this is still the method used in the Valle.
 
I respond:
Having watched the boys attempt to throw the rope over the cable with great
amusement, it seems odd to me that you wouldn't put the third rope over the
others BEFORE you pull tight to make your bear cable :-)
