>From another point of view, we had the same allotment of ropes and bags this
past summer. These as well as the other Philmont issued gear worked great
for us, this limited the amount of stuff we had to lug from home.

Subject: [philmont] Bear Ropes
This past summer we were issued 2 ropes - one for the main bag and one for
the oops bag, which worked fine in most cases. The bags did get heavy to
pull up when we were carrying up to 4 and 5 days of food. The main issue
for us was the quality of the bear bags supplied by Philmont. They shredded
and tore easily, quickly diminishing our packable space for hanging on the
cable. For our next trip in 2008, we'll be taking large stuff sacks as bear
bags - much more sturdy and still light weight (unless someone has a better
solution!).
