[philmont] Cozies

See www.antigravitygear.com <http://www.antigravitygear.com/> for an idea
of the pot cozy.

We made our own cozies for our 2005 trip. The stuff you want is called
Reflectix bubble insulation and some REALLY GOOD aluminum tape (one of our
ASM's is in aviation supply and gets us military spec - light and never lets
go). Cheap aluminum tape will come apart on the trail.

You can see our Philmont cooking procedures at
http://home.comcast.net/~445philmont/philmontcrewgearlist.htm.

I've been using pot cozies and bag cozies for almost 5 years now, and would
not go out into the wilderness without them now. They allow drastic fuel
savings. In Sept 2003, in snowy conditions in the Weminuche, the 4qts of
water we boiled stayed hot enough for oatmeal and coffee for almost an hour
in the pot cozy off of the stove.

I think I just answered my own question about how to make cozies by going to
the site Steve put in his comment. Instead of making them out of closed
cell foam, the idea is to use HVAC duct wrap from Home Depot or the like.
Steve, is that what the stuff is?
