The Home Depot website does not list aluminum tape on a search (although I have bought some there before getting the mil spec tape).
On Lowes.com you can find "foil tape" under the search http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productList&N=0&Ntk=i_products&Ntt=foil%20tape . You need this type of tape to make a cozy that will last.
>From our testing, non-metal tapes will not hold at the temperatures created when a hot pot goes straight from the stove to the cozy.

Home depot has aluminum tape. Look for it where the heating/ac ducting is
located. The one near my house has two or three types. Buy the best you
can.
We have not had good luck using duct tape. The adhesive melts when you put
a boiling pot of water in the cozy.

Went to the Depot today and bought a roll of Reflectix that Shane (not
"Steve"; sorry 'bout that) recommended. It IS very light and will do fine
to help hold the heat while the meal finishes rehydrating. Since we don't
have access to the super sticky AF tape, we're tying to figure out what's
next best to hold the stuff together. We have the super strong black kind
of duct tape that's supposed to withstand wet 'n weather. We may just sew
the stuff. Will wait a while to see if anyone comes up with a seam fastener
we haven't thought of. We looked at the foil tape as we went by plumbing;
but according to Shane, it's not dependable in our mobile environment. I
think we're going to make one for the 4-qt Billy pot, too. It'll help keep
ceral/cocoa/coffee/clean up water hotter longer and will travel well. It'll
just fit around the 4-qt as it nests in the 6-qt. LIG.
