We used the tablets in 2006 exclusively with a 30 minute wait time, or
over night. We did not take a filter. Our whole crew made it through
healthy and happy. So I would endorse the tablet method. Are there any
crews that had gastro intestinal issues that they could attribute to
their purification method that would want to share this information? I
agree with the filters as a teaching tool for Scouts learning different
tools used in backpacking.
