I saved Gatorade packets to mix into my treated water and drank the already drinkable water plain.... just an idea but it makes the treated water much more paletable. Also used a polycarbonate nalgene for treated water/drink mix and the PC doesn't hold the smell like a HDPE one does (not that either are considered non-smellables!) ----- Original Message ---- From: Joe Simonis <js1864@gmail.com> To: philmont List Member <philmont@troop47.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 2:53:18 PM Subject: [philmont] Micro Pur Contact Time On Trek 4 in 2004, we treated water 7 times. No pump, just Polar Pure. A pump would have made things easier at times, but it's all about water management. I don't mind the grounds in my coffee, so a little dirt in my water was no problem. My Nalgenes still smell like iodine, though. Just be prepared, eh. Trek 4 Polar Pure use: Lover's Leap – Polar Pure Bear Caves – Polar Pure Crooked Creek – Polar Pure Cyphers Mine – Polar Pure (Pump broken) Trail from Cyphers – Polar Pure Webster Parks - Polar Pure Tooth Ridge – Polar Pure at Schaefers Pass Joe Simonis ASM T6 West Chester, PA On 1/30/07, Kevin Mineart <kjmineart@yahoo.com> wrote: We carried 1 filter for our crew of 9 in 2003 along with polar pure. We had to treat water 2 times during the trek and I was glad both times that we had the filter to get the chunks/mud out. We didn't have to pump a lot of water, just enough to drink so more than 2 filters for a crew of 12 seems like it would be overkill. ____________________________________________________________________________________ It's here!
