The most important thing is to start EARLY! I don't
head to Philmont until August 2nd.... of 2003 and I
made Philmont weight about 3 weeks ago.... this
doesn't seem like much of a feat until you know that I
started out January 3rd 30 pounds away from my max
allowable (and estimate at Thanksgiving when I
actually decided I had to change my eating habits and
lose a few pounds that I was around 40 pounds over!)
It's much easier to lose a pound a week than to try
and lose it all the last few weeks before you go. At
this point, I've set my sights on the weight where I
played High School varsity sports (20 yr reunion this
year) I plan to be at least 20 lbs under my Philmont
max weight by the time we start doing any heavy
training starting late next winter. My knees and
ankles feel a million times better and playing
softball this summer has been more enjoyable too!
Just a pound a week!
