[Philmont]: PTC dining hall

Having just returned from relationships week at PTC, I have to tell you that
the food was terrible (and their spelling skills, unless they were trying to
be "cute," were worse). The only thing that saved me, was the fact that I
carry a kit of herbs and spices with me on ALL camping trips.
The veggies were uniformly overcooked, the sauces were either bland de la
bland or non-existent (i.e. the "salisbury steak" was served without the
usual savory brown gravy - it was dried out, too), the jello was not fully
dissolved when jelled, one of the cakes had a "crunchy" texture, and the
scrambled eggs were made from powdered eggs (or at least they tasted like
it), etc, etc, etc.
In order to "doctor" things up a bit, I would suggest making up a kit in
a fanny pack consisting of:
a 50/50 mix of garlic powder and onion powder
a 50/50 mix of basil and oregano
        a small container each of:
            dill weed
            paprika
chili powder (hot or mild - your taste)
            crushed red pepper flakes
            cayenne pepper
cinnamon (excellent with syrup on their so-called french toast
and pancakes)
also, it would not hurt to have a small bottle of Tabasco® Sauce as
well.
BTW, if you like thousand island dresssing on your salads, mix equal
parts of their ranch dresssing and catsup, and throw in some pickle relish.
Mix well and spoon it on the salad.
