RE: [Philmont]: height/weight -horse riding

Clark's Fork staff were very accommodating. We were at Clark's Fork on the 8th or 9th. On the ride before ours, an advisor who stated he was 230 (probably 5' 10"), got to ride. Then, we had a 17 year-old scout (offensive tackle for his high school at 6'2", 265 pounds) who got to ride. His horse, Hercules, did a great job. I think it all has to do with proportions (frame, weight, and height). Had he looked obese, they may have not allowed him to ride.

To extend the info a bit - the max weight for anyone (non-staff) riding a horse is 200 lbs - so if you want to do a riding session at say Clark's its 200 or less.

"This may be restating the obvious but this thread has been only about
treks. For anyone going on a Cavalcade, irrespective of a participant's
height, maximum weight allowed is 200 pounds."
