First, my previous post should have said WGS84, not WGS80.

Way back in 2000 I put together an example of how far off you'd be at
Philmont if you don't have your datum matching. I don't recall what the
difference was, and I can't work through it again at the moment. However, I
did a search on Google using "GPS datum" and it turned up many links that
explain this. One good link, which has a graphic, but no actual measurement
is:

We all need to be careful when we share or post data that we get all the
parameters, including the datum, with the waypoints. User's of the data
must be equally careful that they have their GPS set correctly when
entering/using the data.
