That's exactly what my daughter told the male members of the crew before
summer even started. This past entire school year she wore her hiking boots
on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and ran 1-2 miles in them each of those days.

You ought to see her twirl a baton in those boots. They just became a part
of her. When it came time to hit the trail, she just put it in low gear and
ground up the miles while most of the guys were still trying to figure out
how tight to pull the laces.

I stated on this list before we went that she was a pack mule and that she
is, all 126 pounds of her.

Many will think I am bragging, but she and her friend were the only youth
that put everything inside their packs. As she says, a smooth tight pack is
a lot easier to carry. Some of the others looked like hobos on the trail
with all the junk hanging off their packs. Several suffered falls when the
swinging load pulled them off ballance. Some live adn learn and some can't
even be taught.

Oh well, like I've said before, Philmont isn't for everyone, it's just for
Scouts.
