On the early days tents at Philmont. It would be my guess that they were
surplus military tents. Back in that time frame, each military person
carried what was called a shelter half. Two people would snap the two
halfs together and make a tent. Each person carried one pole and half or
the required tent pegs. The ponchos were used for the floor or ground
cloths.
