One of the highlights this year during the Closing Campfire was an
unplanned event by Philmont. Before it started right after we all
arrived at the campfire area there was a big yell by the scouts and
everybody pointed to the sky. Right above us a USAF B1 bomber
was refueling in the air. You could see the fuel hose from the
tanker to the B1. It was a unbelievable sight to behold. The planes
did not appear to be at a high altitude since you could easily
identify the shapes of the two planes. The sky was clear and we all
had a great view of the refueling. With the Closing campfire and this
it was a great mountain top experience.
