The Porch is across the street from the Kit Carson Motel and serves a great
breakfast. They served our crew 2 days in a row for (you might not quote me
since I don't konw if this was a regular deal) $5 each - pretty much all we
could eat. Trays of fresh biscuits showed up every 15 minutes or so...
Awesome..

Subject: [Philmont]: what's cookin' in Cimarron?
We are arriving in Cimarron about 7:00PM the evening before our trek,
staying at the Kit Carson Inn. The plan is to have the bus drop us off
at the Inn and have Philmont pick us up the next morning. I have a few
questions:
1) Is there an interesting place for dinner within walking distance of
the the Inn that worth waiting until 8:00PM for? (The alternative being
fast-food on the way).
2) How about breakfast the next morning? The Inn will serve us a buffet
breakfast for $6.95 each. Should we do this or go somewhere more
interesting? Is it feasible/wise to declare a few hours of "free time"
to let the Scouts explore Cimarron on their own? Any "must see" sights?
3) What time should we request that Philmont pick us up? Are there
advantages to getting in very early?
Thanks for any advice.
