How big is your son at 14? The Red Cloud is a full-sized, wide width
internal backpack. Unless he is already a good sized young man, I would
hesitate on this pack thinking it might be too big to fit him
comfortably. I had a red cloud & hated for the fact that it was too
wide & unwieldy on my frame. With a 14 year old, I would suggest
waiting until he gets more growth behind him before making an internal
frame purchase.

Subject: [Philmont]: Backpack review
I am looking at a Kelty Redcloud backpack as a present
for my son's 14th birthday next month. We will be
going on a Philmont trek next August (03) and I am a
little torn between buying him his own and borrowing
one that he has used in the past. I'd like a little
input, any comments, both pro and con for the
Redcloud? (I remember some folks really touting this
particular unit in the past so I was curious if there
was still positive feedback on it.)
Thanks!!
