Hello all, I fly a lot and I don't own a suitcase (well, I do, but most
people refer to it as an external frame pack - more specifically a Kelty).
Here are my tips:
-remove anything that is removable and put it inside the bag
-if there are any hanging straps that are not removable - tie them up with
as many knots as you possibly can (the goal being to have one tightly bound
knot rather than several loose straps).
-attach a name tag to the pack
-get a high quality clear plastic bag and put the pack in it (bring a couple
of extras for the shipping home part of the trip)
-seal the pack only after you get it to the check in counter - that way they
know you aren't trying any funny business. As for sealing it - use
something like packing tape or a twist tie.
Hope that helps
Mike
