[Philmont]: Limited opening of the north section July 13th?

Just returned from 6-19-L1. Trek #23 FM. We originally had received trek #21. Had a great time. No showers until day 9 and then decided to go the whole way without shower....no problem.

The staff talk towards the end of the trek was that some staff had been sent to north section camps with the intention of opening selected portions of the north country, ie Baldy and Ponil to relieve the relative crowding around Mt Phillips and Tooth Ridge
 . July 13th
was noted as a possible starting date. I did notice some accelerated trail wear/widening due to heavy traffic and dry conditions.

I liked the changes made to the food. Tuna pouches were great, canned ham and chicken were good. Scouts did not go for the canned ham too well though. More Ritz and Saltine crackers than you will every want to see, but the scouts kept snacking on them
 throughout.
Generally, there was more food overall, which meant more extras for us to carry, which we had a hard time dropping off at the more remote western camps. Extra food meant the scouts could be more picky at supper, lowering demand for some main dishes, ie Bl
 ack beans
and Rice. Lots of flavored mashed potatoes. Pemmican Bars with a new name and label are still good and still the source of trail legends.

Staff is great! Especially Nate, Tops and Big E, the conservation guys at Fish Camp
The affable Mountain Man at the opening camp fire was great too!
